Fiberglass Reinforcing Mesh
Fiberglass Reinforcing Mesh is designed for our systems. It provides max impact protection when High impact fiberglass mesh is used. Our meshes are coated with a proprietary polymer for strength.

Recommended Use of fiberglass mesh
Fiberglass Reinforcing Mesh is embedded into a layer of Base Coat. This forms a protective layer over the system substrate. The function of fiberglass reinforcing Mesh in the base coat is to reinforce the coatings. They provide crack resistance and integrity to the system. They increase impact strength over softer substrates. There are several mesh types to choose from.
Types and Options of fiberglass mesh
4.3oz Standard Fiberglass Mesh. Used in a single layer for apps. Used where high traffic or abuse is not expected. It is required over High Impact Meshes.
4.5oz Extra Standard Reinforcing Mesh. Offers greater impact resistance than RM-100. Used in a single layer for apps. Used where high traffic is not expected.
4.3oz 9.5″ Detail Fiberglass Mesh. Used over the edges of EPS. It is more workable over special shapes. It has less memory than the other meshes.
15oz fiberglass Reinforcing Mesh. This mesh is used in a single layer. Edges must be lapped. It provides great impact protection compared to 4.3oz fiberglass mesh & an 4.5oz fiberglass mesh. Use where high pedestrian traffic activity is expected.
20oz High Impact Fiberglass Reinforcing Mesh. This mesh is used by butting edges. Apply a layer of 4.3oz fiberglass mesh on top of it. It provides high impact resistance. It should be used in areas that are subjected to abuse.
25oz High Impact fiberglass Reinforcing Mesh. This mesh is always used by butting edges. Apply a layer of 4.3oz fiberglass mesh mesh on top of it. It is the strongest Reinforcing Mesh. This system is for max protection against traffic and abuse.
20oz Corner Reinforcing Mesh. This mesh is pre-bent. It is cut to 9 1/2” wide. It aids in the formation of crisp edges. It provides greater durability to the corners. Corner Reinforcing Mesh comes in a roll.
Storage of fiberglass mesh
Store our fiberglass Reinforcing Mesh in temps from 40ºF to 110ºF. Protect from the sun.
Application Directions of fiberglass mesh
Back wrapping Preparation. Before installation of the EPS. A strip of 9 1/2” wide RM 109 Reinforcing Mesh must be attached to the wall at all expected termination points of the EPS. This strip of mesh will later wrap the edge of the EPS.
General Preparation. The EPS board must be well adhered to the wall. Wait for at least 24 hours after installing the EPS. The EPS joints must be abutted tightly together. Fill gaps with EPS. The surface of the insulation must be rasped flush. Work out any irregularities at the board joints. Form straight outside corners. Clean all the insulation dust off the wall. Routed joints may be added.
Back wrapping. First embed all the Reinforcing Mesh that was attached to the wall before the EPS was installed. Completely coat the entire edge of the EPS with Base Coat. Trowel the standard mesh into the wet base coat. Make sure that the mesh is flat to the wall. Feather the edge to a smooth transition. The 9 1/2” standard mesh can also be used in expansion joints. Apply so that it is overlapped at the joints by at least 2 1/2”.
Single Layer fiberglass Mesh Application. Apply a coat of Base Coat to the wall. Place the mesh into the wet base coat. Trowel flat applying even pressure. Trowel the mesh so the pattern and color of the mesh is not visible. Lap the edges of the fiberglass mesh at least 2 1/2 inches on all sides. Wait 24 hours before applying finish.
Double Layer fiberglass Mesh Applications. Follow the same procedures as the Single Layer Mesh Applications except the edges of the mesh must be abutted instead of lapped to minimize irregularities. Wait 24 hours before applying the 2nd layer. Stagger the joints of the second layer with that of the first. Wait 24 hours before applying finish.
